CHS Boys Freshman – Fall Soccer

Note from Coach Josh Russotto – Boys Varsity Soccer Coach

Hello Parents and Players,

I am excited to learn of your interest in the Columbia HS Boys Soccer program and I am here to welcome you, give out some key information and invite our incoming student athletes to camp and tryouts.

My name is Josh Russotto and I am the Boys Varsity Head Coach at Columbia High School (6th season).  I am pleased to announce Coach Anthony Spina is our returning freshmen soccer coach.

In order to participate in high school soccer tryouts, each player must complete the physical evaluation forms with their family and doctor and hand them in ASAP.  Once cleared by the school, the player may participate.  The official due date is July 25th but I recommend shooting for early July.

Freshmen Soccer Tryouts begin Monday August 12th at 12 Noon.  Ritzer Field behind Columbia High School.  All players need proper soccer cleats, shin guards and water.  The duration of tryouts will be approximately 3-4 days.

Camp begins Monday August 5th. I would also like to invite you to our Pre-Season Camp for High School Players!  In our 5th year, we are approaching record numbers and I am pleased to see many of you have already signed up.  This is the largest group of freshmen we have had in the past 5 years. Sign up now before a price increase after the July 4th weekend.  Camp is a great opportunity to knock off the summer rust, get in soccer shape, and see how you stack up versus your peers.  The focus is on fun, learning and playing the game.  Camp will help our student athletes become more comfortable with their game, while increasing their confidence.  Camp will take place at Ritzer Field behind Columbia High School.

We are happy to answer any of your questions between now and the start of tryouts.  Please feel free to reach out to Coach Spina at or myself and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Welcome to Columbia Boys Soccer and thanks very much for your time.

Josh Russotto
